On August 5, Ambassador Zhang Junsai attended the launch of the Beijing 2008 Olympics Photo and Souvenir Exhibition held in Canberra Library. Ambassador regarded this exhibition as another manifestation of existing rapport between Canberra and Beijing as sister cities, after the successful Beijing Olympic Torch Relay on April 24. He said that the exhibition also strengthens the existing partnership between the ACT Library and Chinese Embassy, which donated some books and DVDs to the Library early this year. As the long-anticipated opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics is barely 3 days away, he hopes through this exhibition we could share with the Australian people, people in ACT in particular, our joy and excitement in welcoming guests from over the world and our sincerity and efforts in delivering one of the best Olympic Games, and the photos and souvenirs on display will help create a bit Olympic atmosphere in Canberra and provide a small window to the Beijing Olympics and the heartbeats of the Australian teams who are in Beijing in person in this historic August. The Honorable John Hargreaves, ACT Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Ms Vanessa Little, Director of ACT Library and Information Service attended this function. All the participants wished the Beijing Olympic Games a great success.
